The Primary Bedroom Closet

I am doing the primary bedroom closet reveal separate from the big reveal of the primary bedroom. The primary bedroom has so many parts that I felt it would be easier to break it up into smaller reveals. Plus the primary bedroom and bathroom are nowhere close to being done but the closet is!

  • ☑️ Lots of shelves
  • ☑️ Built-in dresser
  • ☑️ Jewelry display
  • ✖️Opens to Laundry Room

The carpet is the same throughout the home so it can be found in our closet too. We purchased from Royal Flooring for those that are local. This carpet also has the Royal Charity pad under it so it is super soft.

The entire closet was painted in Pure White by Sherwin Williams. We did an eggshell finish on the walls. The ceiling and all the trim are the same color as the walls but in different finishes.

We have a flush mount ceiling light in the closet. I probably could have put a beautiful chandelier, but no one was going to see our closet. To save money it was kept simple.

The entire closet design is from IKEA. We went this route after being quoted an insane price from our carpenter. We wanted the fancy things like built-in dresser drawers and lots of shelving. We had some other closet deign services come into our home but they too were very expensive for very little. I was very intimidated when we first logged onto the IKEA PAX SYSTEM design page. It turned out pretty easy to navigate. We just put in the room measurements and start adding what we wanted. The system will tell you when something can not be added in certain areas due to the current design or the size of the room. Keep in mind when you put in measurements that most closets have baseboards. We did not remove our baseboards so we had to subtract some inches off the size of the room.

For those that are local, we do not have an IKEA in Iowa, but we have a drop-off warehouse in Ankeny, Iowa that IKEA ships to and you can pick up your materials from that warehouse.

The amount of pieces this closet came in was very over whelming. The good news is once you build one piece the other piece is the exact same so it gets easier as you go. The drawers are all soft close too I should mention. This closet design has allowed us to get rid of our dresser in the primary bedroom giving us more space for other features in that room.

Originally added this pull out pants rack for Rob’s dress pants but he was not a fan so now I use it for my leggings. (soft close)

I used the belt divider for both belts and for more jewelry. (soft close)

SHOP THE CLOSET

The bins on top of the closet shelves are memory boxes. I purchased the small ones off of facebook marketplace but then found the two larger ones that matched at the container store. Why do we have so much memorabilia? Rob and I each have a box of things our parents saved from our childhood. We have a box full of our wedding stuff. We have memorabilia from our parents’ childhoods and we have boxes and photos for our kids.

The gray linen containers on the middle shelf are Rob’s tie storage. They are a great way to store ties if you have a a large collection.

The ottomans in the center of the closet are from our old house. They too have storage so we store swimsuits in there.

I love these shoe racks that allow me to stack each pair. I added many shelves to our closet, but I have too many shoes I guess.

There are gaps on each end of the closet because nothing from the PAX system would fit there. I installed this folding clothes rack on my side and I hang the items that I still need to model for you all on LTK. Below the rack I store my suitcase and duffle bags. Rob also has a suitcase stored in the gap on his side too.
